Bugging Out

Tuesday 25 November 2014

Wow, what a couple of weeks we have had here at The Bungalow.
Unsure of wheather to share, I decided that after being fairly absent from this space, 'honest mumblings' is what I promised for this blog.

It all started with Evan managing to stick his little hand to the burning hot radiator two weeks ago - ouch!
It then escalated to the little guy suffering a high temperature and bad chest over the weekend, and although he was very unwell, it was manageable.
Sunday arrived and I got the flu! In bed for two days, we called upon The Janitors services to take over mommy duties. Thank goodness he is so good!

Monday dawned upon us and Evan was even more unwell. A trip to the doctors and he was diagnosed with bronchiolitus - ever heard of it? If you're a UK mama with a babe one or under, I expect you have, it is rife here at the moment.

Evan progressively got worse over the next few days and at five thirty am Wednesday morning, Evan was struggling for breath and had a super high temperature.
A trip to a&e where Evan was then transferred to the children's ward until the next day. He needed a little help getting some oxygen and to help with his breathing, he was so unwell the poor guy.
Moving no further than our chests, he was lifeless and still, barely managing to pull down my top baring my skin where he rested his head. Moments like these I won't forget.

Helpless, slightly disassociated and anxious, all we could do was be there and keep our babe feeling safe and secure.
Thankfully he was home the next afternoon and today he is finally back to his usual bubbly, energetic and chatty self. Oh how we have missed him!

Myself, I now have sinusitis and a weeks worth of antibiotics. I suffered the worst pain I have ever experienced (apart from child birth obviously!) last night and am feeling exhausted, pale and worn out. Tears streaked my face as nothing eased the pain. Dreading the night, I eventually managed to drift in and out of sleep with a hot water bottle attached to my red, puffy face. Attractive I can tell you!!
I can safely say that we are well over these bugs, coughs and colds. Be gone already!

It goes to show that even when you live a healthy lifestyle, these things still creep up on you and knock you for six. It makes me wonder that if we weren't so health conscious, enjoying our home cooked meals, how much worse we all could have been.
For now we shall continue to take things a little easier, venturing not too far and taking slow walks to fill our lungs with fresh air.
On a brighter note, I have a new job yay! And have been lucky enough to win two prizes from competitions I entered lately. Keep your eyes peeled for a post....

I hope you and your babes are managing to steer clear of these nasties and are happy and healthy.
Wrap up and stay warm. Make some yummy soups and stews and enjoy the last few days of November......Am I really saying that already?????

Oh Amy, I'm so sorry to hear that you and Evan have been poorly ….. it's a good job that The Janitor avoided it !! It's rotten and scary when your children are ill …. thank goodness that Evan is back to his bubbly old self again.
…. and well done on winning those competitions …. were they from blogs ?
Look after yourselves, all of you ….. Christmas is coming !!!! XXXX

Thanks Jackie!
God knows how The Janitor managed to avoid it, maybe its because he works in a school so has had most bugs going?
I won the competitions via Instagram. I get kind of addicted, so the law of averages suggests that it was about time I got lucky ;)
Can't wait for christmas and all it has in store......Jingle bells! Hope you are all keeping well xxxxxx
