Evan is One

Today you turn one.
Today you decided to walk. You really are so special. Watching those chubby legs stride out, arms stretched and a huge grin on your gorgeous face, you impress and amaze us all.

I am struggling to comprehend how we are here already, in what seems like only last week that I sat holding your hand on the way back from the hospital, all three of us exhausted and in love.
All squished and yummy. I breathed you in and haven't stopped.
With a tear in my eye and a happy, heavy heart, I am so proud of you and all that you have achieved in your short life so far.
Your inquisitive nature will see you go far in this life. You're humour will ensure you have fun times, positive through all that will be thrown your way. And your enthusiasm and pure determination will stand you in good stead for a world of adventure.

Your laugh, it is so infectious, our cheeks ache by the end of the day.
When you are sleepy you rest your head on my shoulders, wanting to snuggle up and be close, looking up at me with your big blue eyes.
You are the best dancer, shaking your head and arms, bouncing those knees. You love music, you want to dive into the record player getting as close as your can.
A sociable boy, you stand at the window, saying 'hiya' to all those who pass.
I love to watch you play, I can see your imagination growing and your world expanding.
So patient and loving you are.

Our boy. One today. You are so very loved.
